The new style icon…Amal Alamuddin Clooney

4 Oct

Hi guys,

So it was the wedding weekend of hollywood star George Clooney and London-based British-Lebanese lawyer/barrister, activist, and author, Amal Alamuddin and from the pictures we have all seen of their magical weekend in Venice, Italy, her fashion and style is so amazing!

She is truly the epitome of elegance, class and grace and is absolutely stunning. I absolutely adore her style and taste! Every single one of her looks is to die for, and her and George Clooney look like the happiest couple.

Take a look at some of my favourite recent looks on Amal, or should I say Mrs. George Clooney, during their wedding weekend in Italy.

In this picture, she is dressed by classic and top designers, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli Couture and Stella McCartney. I love how classy she looks in the hat to match her super-chic, Stella McCartney, wide-leg cream jumpsuit/trousers.

The red gown is absolutely stunning on her olive skin and the Giambattista Valli Couture floral design is simply beautiful!

She also looks very elegant in the black and white striped dress.

These are just some of my favourite looks on Amal Alamuddin during their wedding weekend and there have been many more images of some of her past amazing looks, which you can check out by “googling” her name.

Now I can’t finish this post without mentioning her stunning custom-made, off-the-shoulder, Oscar de la Renta wedding gown.

It was made of French lace, hand-embroidered with pearls and diamanté accents and featuring a full circular train, worn with a cathedral-length, lace-edged veil.

The lace on her gown was crafted at the Sophie Hallette factory in France, one of the oldest lace factories in the world, which also provided the lace for the Duchess of Cambridge’s, Alexander McQueen wedding dress.

Take a look at some pictures of this spectacular gown here:

Spring Racing!

1 Nov

Hi everyone,

So the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is back again and although the weather hasn’t been great, the outfits definitely have! The bright colours including tangerine, coral, yellow, red and so on and the amazing works of art or styles of millinery have been amazing! Cox Plate and the black and white Derby Day displayed some amazing fashion and celebrities. Adrian Grenier of Entourage was also in Melbourne to celebrate the Cup day.

Here is the three Myer ambassadors, Rebecca Judd, Kris Smith and Jennifer Hawkins at the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival. The colours are bright! Dressed in world renowned Aussie designers, Sass & Bide, they are truly living out the Melbourne Cup fashion tradition. The Sasss & Bide collection this Summer is full of these fantastic, bright colours, patterns and fabrics!

Another show stopper for me was Rachael Finch.

Hey guys,

Okay, so my favourite tv show at the moment is Offspring! I am obsessed….and cannot miss a minute! I don’t think I’m the only mad fan as I hear that it has been approved for a third season by Channel Ten. Who else loves it?

Well I have to say it is by far possibly the best Aussie drama series I’ve ever seen….and that’s a big statement coming from me!

What I love about the show are the characters! They are so real and I can relate to almost all of them! I also identify myself and people I know in my family with them. It is dramatic but quite hilarious at the same time! The individual character’s storylines keep you hooked too! Great work Offspring team!

Nina Proudman (Asher Keddie) is the main character and the show is pretty much revolved around her life as we follow and try to keep up with her thoughts, decision making processes and all the craziness, that is her life and the problems and issues that arise from her relationships with her “hot” collegues and family! Asher truly does an amazing job at this role and is a great actress. She makes it so real it’s unbelievable! Another perfect performance by Asher which is not unusual…she never fails to amaze!

Her fashion sense is quite unusual and bohemian and I have to say I am a fan!

Her outfits appear effortless and she always wears individual pieces that are so unique and brilliant! Her fashion is insipiring…thumbs up to her stylist!

What do you all think?

You can usually find out where to buy everything Nina wears on the show on the ‘Nina Proudman’ Facebook Page.

The new Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!

1 May

Hi everyone,

I am sure you all witnessed the spectacular Royal Wedding on Friday where the future Queen, beautiful Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress was finally revealed. All the specific details of the wedding were all kept secret in the months leading up to the big, special day but the suspense was over and the excitement of finding out who designed the dress was all revealed!

Catherine Middleton’s dress was the epitomy of classic elegance and she definitely is the epitomy of true beauty and class. The dress was designed by Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen (which was predicted as she was the fashion favourite to design it).

Ms Middleton’s veil was long, sheer and modern, showcasing her hair which she was wearing down. The simple yet very elegant veil placed by a Cartier halo tiara, lent to Ms Middleton by the Queen which she received at her 18th Birthday in 1963, was made of layers of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, which was embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.

Her dress train measured over six feet, with long sleeves that were long and made of chantilly lace. The front of the dress was cut in a low V. Ms Middleton wanted her dress to combine tradition and modernity with artistic vision that characterises Alexander McQueen’s work. Ms Middleton worked closely with Sarah Burton in formulating the design of her dress.

The sweeping train measured just over six feet and was made with ivory and white satin gazar. The skirt echoed an opening flower, with white satin gazar arches and pleats. The ivory satin bodice, which was narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips, drew on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and was a hallmark of Alexander McQueen’s designs. Her tiny waistline was shown off beautifully!

Ms Middleton was successful at keeping not only the look of the dress top secret, but the identity of the designer as well. Quite an accomplishment, considering every detail of the wedding was closely followed by a global media circus.

The princess bride wasn’t keeping dress details just from the public; she was keeping them from her husband-to-be. Prince William finally saw the beautiful gown after many of the wedding watchers. He was the last to see it! Ms Middleton went to great lengths to make sure he did not catch a glimpse of it until she met him at the altar.

Some pre-wedding rumors suggested that Ms Middleton was playing bridal dress roulette, commissioning three dresses for the day, with two backups in case the number-one dress was leaked to the press. Other reports suggested she’d created the gown herself. Her dress was said to resemble Princess Grace and Grace Kelly at their weddings.

What did you all think of her dress?

Her Reception gown was equally as spectacular, also another Alexander McQueen creation.

We all know Her Royal Highness, Kate Middleton was best dressed at the Royal Wedding, but her younger sister and Maid of Honour for the day, Pippa Middleton also dressed in Alexander McQueen looked just as beautiful. Many believe her dress echoed Jackie Kennedy’s famous Wedding dress.

What did you think of this numnber? I personally loved it!

Other guests at the Wedding included, the Beckhams, Prime Ministers from around the world, Sir Elton John, etc, all dressed to a tea!

I can imagine that there are many designers at the moment working hard to replicate the famous Wedding gown!

Found online at stores from the US and UK such as or on the Thierry Mugler website. Country Road has now released a range of textured military cape coats for $179.00. The soft yet thick fabric is ideal for Melbourne’s cold Winter weather and it comes in different shades (black, grey and charcoal). Finally it suits all pants and skirts and even looks great over dresses.

Alexander McQueen vs Missoni scarf?

18 Feb

Scarfs are a great accessory especially those with a hint of colour or a contrasting print to wear with a simple canvas. Looking for a perfect scarf is not easy, especially when you are comparing an Alexander McQueen scarf with a Missoni scarf. Ebay is great for finding scarves by these labels at incredibly appropriate prices especially Alexander McQueen scarves. Missoni scarves however are a little more pricy but they are an item that will never date so spending that little bit extra is always beneficial. I’m into both prints and they would both look great with plain colours. What print do you prefer and why?
